My Pastors Sermon Notes

A New Year’s Revolution and not just a “Resolution”? Be Specific

1.) Physically - Lose weight & Exercise. Do you have a plan?

2.) Finances- Get out of Debt. Tithe. FINANCIAL PEACE UNIVERSITY. John Wesley: “GAIN all you gain (honest employment), SAVE all you can (frugality), and GIVE all you can.”

3.) Habits - Eliminate some bad ones & take on some new ones. Instead of watching TV & eating bon bons, read a book, make a phone call, write a letter, exercise. How ‘bout trying something new?

4.) Speech - Eliminate swearing & negative. How long’s it been since you’ve witnessed to someone? Anyone can complain and criticize – are you known for being a positive person. Maybe we need to eliminate talking so much…or maybe we need to speak
up and initiate conversations instead of being passive.

5.) Prayer & Worship – Do you have a Daily Bible Reading & Prayer Journal?

6.) Relationships – Take off some old and put on some new. Are there certain relationships that bring you down? Are you in a small group?

7.) Emotions – Has your joy factor slipped? Are you angry, depressed, fearful, or frozen?

8.) Biblical Worldview – Think outside your box!

9.) Service & Mission – Where are you serving?

10.) What is God saying to me that I should do? Matt 7:7-8 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” v7 Just think — you don't need a thing, you've got it all! All God's gifts are right in front of you. We’ve got everything we need by the power of the Holy Spirit. v9 God, who got you started in this spiritual adventure, shares with us the life of his Son and our Master Jesus. He will never give up on you. Never forget that. God won’t quit on you.
